Built in Victoria, for Victoria families
Harbour Home began the way most of these businesses do: with a family scrambling. A parent in Saanich, an adult daughter on a plane, a house full of decisions, and no single person to call who could handle both the day-to-day support and the eventual move.
We found there were good agencies for care and good companies for moving — but families were being asked to project-manage the seam between them, at exactly the moment they had least capacity for it. Harbour Home exists to remove that seam. One team, one point of contact, across both stages.
The name comes from the Inner Harbour, and it carries the idea we work to: a safe harbour at home for as long as that is right, and a steady crossing to the next one when it is not.
We are deliberately small. We would rather turn work away than break the thing that matters most in this industry — the same trusted person, showing up reliably, for as long as they are needed.
Screening, insurance, and training
Commercial liability insurance and bonding
Every visit and every move project is covered. Certificates are available to any family or referring professional on request.
Criminal record checks for vulnerable adults
Required of every team member before their first shift, and renewed on schedule. No exceptions, including for owners.
First aid and dementia-awareness training
Standard first aid with CPR, plus practical dementia communication training for anyone supporting a client with cognitive change.
Employees, not contractors
Our companions are employees, covered by WorkSafeBC. Families are never left holding an employer's liability.
Our team
Photographs and short introductions to each of our companions and move coordinators will be published here — real photographs of the actual people who will come to your door. We are not willing to fill this page with stock images of models, so it stays deliberately plain until the real ones are taken.
In the meantime, you will always be told the name and background of the person proposed for your family, and you will meet them before anything is agreed.
